Eddy, 7 months
At 7 months old, Eddy had been doing 30 minute catnaps during the day since 8 weeks old and waking every 20 minutes-2hours overnight. I was completely burnt out and my husband was understandably very worried about me. I felt like we had tried everything at every stage of the spectrum from responsive parenting to sleep training. I truly thought Eddy just didn’t like sleep!
Eddy already self settled like a champ but I was caught in a hamster wheel of rocking him back to sleep after his catnap so he didn’t get overtired, but he became reliant on that.
Cue Loren - she was honestly like an angel! I thought we were in for “crying it out” but Loren comforted eddy and encouraged him to settle in the cot. She sang to him and supported him to learn the skill without focusing on set times or methods. It definitely wasn’t an overnight fix but with consistency Eddy is doing 2 x 1.5 naps most days and waking maybe once or twice overnight for a quick resettle.
Loren’s approach was gentle and holistic focussing on feeding and sleeping. We walked away without a schedule but organically a structure formed as we learnt to tune into eddy and tune out of our expectations.
Sleep deprivation is brutal, and as dramatic as it sounds, now that he’s sleeping my life has changed.
Rosie, 7 months
When I reached out to Loren I was feeling pretty hopeless, our second daughter, Rosie's sleep had gone downhill from when she was around 7 months old, and we had gotten into some habits that we were finding hard to change. We were VERY tired and desperate to try to get both Rosie and Mum & Dad some better sleep!
Loren made it so easy to virtually meet up with her, in just one call she got to know what our routines and behaviour were with Rosie, and gave us some very achievable strategies and goals to work with and towards. I felt very heard and supported.
Loren has a very calm and confident nature which is exactly what you need as an overtired parent! She didn't make me feel like we were doing anything 'wrong' or failing as parents, that this was common behaviour and assured us that with a bit of hard work and some tweaks we would start to see positive changes.
I came away from the call with a clear plan and shortly after the call Loren sent a detailed follow up email to reiterate what we had spoken about so I could easily refer back to it when needed (which, as a sleep deprived person, was amazing!).
Since our session with Loren, Rosie has slowly, but surely, been sleeping better. We are all catching up on sleep!
Loren has kept in touch, has regularly checked in and offered support. She has been so wonderful and I would highly recommend reaching out to her for sleep support, don't wait!
Charlotte
Prior to seeing Loren, our daughter’s naps were inconsistent to non-existent, making it tough for her to sleep well at night and for us as first time parents to be comfortable with the amount of sleep she was getting overall. Loren’s kind and knowledgeable approach to both lactation and sleep gave me the confidence to introduce responsive settling, which I’d been skeptical of previously, and to reduce Charlotte’s feeds as was fitting for her age and requirements.
After a very short time of implementing her recommendations saw Charlotte happily falling asleep in the cot on her own and having consistent naps and good night sleeps. I’d very much recommend Loren’s services to anyone seeking support for their child, whether it be for sleep, feeding, or a combination of both.
